The Project
The Center for Metal Arts is a school specializing in metal arts located in the Cambria Iron National Historic Landmark in Johnstown, PA. Their objective is to provide the forging community with high-quality facilities for both work and learning. They offer workshops ranging from beginner to advanced levels, attracting students from all around the world. In addition, they provide various other opportunities such as internships, residencies, scholarships, conferences, exhibitions, and more.
Previously, the staff encountered difficulties in managing and updating their website. They resorted to using third-party tools and code snippets, resulting in a confusing user experience and wasted time for the staff who had to maintain it.
The Solution
To address these issues, we developed a customized class registration process and apparel shop integrated within WooCommerce. This allows the Center for Metal Arts to manage their class offerings in the same environment where they handle other transactions, simplifying administrative tasks.
The website design was carefully crafted to reflect the rich tradition of the campus’ historic location. Aesthetic elements were thoughtfully chosen to emulate the textures, colors, and ambiance of this historic site.
The Outcome
As a result, the new website is visually appealing while prioritizing usability. Clear navigation, responsive design, and the intuitive class registration ensure that users can easily find what they’re looking for, and the Center can continue to thrive.
