Congrats to long-time Philly architect Michael Johns of MDesigns on his new website!
Michael is an outstanding architect who spent much of his career doing impactful work at the Philadelphia Housing Authority before leaving to start his own company a few years ago. His career has been dedicated to designing and positioning our urban communities for longevity and success, through affordable housing and community planning.
I first met Michael briefly in 2011 while I was an intern at Philadelphia LISC. Our paths crossed again last year as we were both participants at the Inner City Capital Connections business development program.
Shortly thereafter we dove into his website project. It was a blast. The biggest challenge was trying to fit all of his awards and certifications into a page that wouldn’t completely overwhelm the user. Not sure we succeed there, because it’s a lot! ?
Some of Michael’s projects include the Mill Creek Neighborhood Redevelopment project and the Martin Luther King Plaza development. His work with Mill Creek was even featured in the Netflix Documentary “The Mill Creek Past, Present, and Future.” He’s also a member of the American Institute of Architecture College of Fellows and the National Organization of Minority Architects.
