International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA) is a community of doulas and childbirth educators working to increase global access to safe, culturally respectful, family-centered perinatal care. Since 1960, they’ve been pursuing this mission by providing education, resources, certification, and advocacy for their constituency.
We were approached by their board of directors who were fed up with the clunky old website. It had an overload of dated content, a confusing user experience, and a generic design.
ICEA offers four different certifications, each with multiple pathways to achieve certification. The old site included literally dozens of pages to convey all the information. We restructured this section from the ground up to provide the key information in an approachable and user-friendly way.
Throughout the redesign, we worked closely with the board to create a website that better organized their mission, specifically their provider directory. This interactive map and filterable directory makes it easier for a mother to find doulas and childbirth educators in her local area, while simultaneously helping to elevate ICEA’s members and connect them with new clients.
Here’s what their Board President Dena Marchiony said:
“After a long and thorough search, we engaged Chris and his company Spacious to redesign our international nonprofit website. It was a Herculean task for our team, and Chris made every step easy and clear. I, with no hesitation, recommend Spacious for any web design work. Chris is amazing.”
And Board Member Miriam McKinney:
“The team built a beautiful site for us in a short amount of time. We are extremely happy with the customer service and skills of the team. I have recommended them to others.”
